Sun Damaged Skin

Condition Description

Sun damage can lead to brown spots, redness or flushing, uneven skin tone, and impaired skin texture. Depending on the extent of damage and the skin type, various options for treatment are available.

The majority of the skin conditions we treat at Glow Medi Spa are related to sun damage. Sun damage can present in many ways such as: brown spots, pigmentation, redness, uneven skin tone, roughened skin texture, lines and wrinkles, saggy skin, aging skin, skin lesions or skin cancer.

At Glow Medi Spa, we have a wide variety of treatments available to treat sun damage. However, we still feel that it is crucial to take the necessary steps to prevent the problem. It is also important to maintain the results after the treatments. Clients should be seen by a physician for any skin lesions related to sun damage to ensure proper diagnosis and treatment.

Treatments for Sun Damaged Skin

  • IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photorejuvenation

The most common treatment for sun damage is IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photorejuvenation since it addresses brown spots, redness, uneven skin tone, fine lines, and wrinkles, and also stimulates collagen as well.  It involves no down-time and is considered a “lunch time” treatment. The most common areas to treat with IPL are the face, neck, chest and hands but IPL can be used anywhere on the body.

  • Fraxel Dual Laser treatments

Clients that are seeking an efficient, fast way to get fresher looking skin by resurfacing their skin and don’t mind a few days of down-time are ideally suited to Fraxel Dual Laser treatments.  There are two different wavelengths.  The more superficial 1927nm wavelength addresses the brown spots, pigmentation, surface texture, and smoothness of the surface skin.  The 1550nm deeper wavelength addresses deeper lines and wrinkles and deep textural problems such as “leathery skin”.

  • Picosecond Laser Treatments

Picosecond laser treatments have become one of Glow Medi Spa's most popular treatments to treat sun damaged skin. With no downtime the PicoSure laser can safely and effectly lift stubborn pigment caused by sun damaged on a variety of skin types.

  • Maximus TriPolar Radio-Frequency and Laser Photorejuvenation

For saggy skin on the face and neck, the Maximus TriPolar Treatment uses Radio-Frequency to tighten and tone the skin.  For crepey skin on the neck, our clients have enjoyed the benefits of Laser Photorejuvenation.

  • Other Treatments

Actinic Keratosis can present as scaly, rough lesions that are on sun exposed areas. They can lead to skin cancer if left untreated.

For superficial, early changes to the skin such as dry, dull skin with loss of smoothness and glow to the skin, there are various skin treatments and products that can improve the quality of the skin and help prevent further deterioration.
